IIGAB: fake committee!
International Internet Gateway Association of Bangladesh (IIGAB) is going to be reorganized after almost a decade. Instead of restricting the organizational structure between the two individuals, an initiative has been taken to shape it following the model of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services-BASIS, National Association of Software and Information and Communication Technologies companies in Bangladesh.
However, the fake campaign has already started with the new committee to be formed as participative according to the distributed responsibilities. A mock committee list has been provided to various IAG institutions even before the formation of the committee.
However, most of the people in that committee confirmed that they have no involvement in this matter. They said that it is not 'decent' to talk about the matter. Some have called this campaign a ploy by vested interests. According to them, no committee has been formed yet. Preliminary discussions have jast been held on the matter. Some are overzealous and want to create confusion and division in this organization by publishing that letter avoiding organizational decency. Several people, who did not wish to be named, said that a member had made such a mess while joining this organization from the management of another organization. Although the list was dated June 6, it was already shared with various people. Therefore, the people concerned have requested not to confuse anyone in this regard.
Khalid Raihan, the representative of Summit Communication, who is named in the list regarding the fake list circulated as a member of the Executive Committee nominated for the IIGB 2024-26 term, said that he was in a meeting on the formation of the committee on June 2. There he expressed interest in being on the committee from the summit. His name was also in the nominated EC. As per the constitution then, the vote was finalized on the formation of committees like BASIS. It was supposed to be officially announced later. There is a meeting about this on Saturday. So, the matter is not conclusive. And he has nothing to do with the list that has been circulated.
He said, I have no idea about this list. The people who made this list never spoke to me.
On the other hand, Md. Moshiur Rahman, the representative of Fiber@Home, who is named as a member of the same position, said, "No committee has been formed yet. As far as I know, our organization has not taken any decision on this yet. We are monitoring the situation. We have not agreed to be with any panel or team yet.”
On the other hand, because MA Salam of Skytel Communication Limited is busy as the senior vice-president, his business partner Zia Shams said, MA Salam has not yet become a candidate by himself. Someone suggested his name. However, no committee has been finalized yet. The matter is being discussed. It can be said after Saturday's meeting.
Similarly, A Mannan Khan, the founder chairman of Mango Teleservices, did not admit his association with the fake list even though he was named as the president.
In this regard, IIGAB Secretary General Ahmed Junayed said, I feel surprised and embarrassed by such an incident. But whoever does this childish thing from outside the organization will not benefit. Those who have been working against the organization for a long time by standing in favor of not renewing the IIG license after 2027, the members of the organization will stand in the way on Saturday for their own welfare. No evil circle will succeed here in sha Allah.
